Cracks or Cryovolcanoes? Surface Geology Creates Clouds on Titan as Observed by Gemini and Keck
Gemini near-infrared adaptive optics images of Titan showing mid-latitude clouds at three infrared wavelength ranges: K', H2(1-0) and Br (gamma) (1.95-2.3, 2.1239 and 2.1686 respectively). The K'-band images show the surface, H2 reveals tropospheric cloud features (down from about 5-10km) and Br probes the lower stratosphere and upper troposphere. The resolution on these images is about 0.06". Note that the best examples of mid-latitude clouds occur on April 8th and May 4th.
