Kitt Peak Night Sky is Still Dark
This fish-eyed lens image shows the night time sky as seen from Kitt Peak. The Milky Way runs through the center of the image. The lights from distant cities can be seen on the horizon. The new study measured the amount of light pollution at an elevation of 30 degrees (shown by the red circle) and overhead (in the middle of the image), finding it currently has minimal impact on astronomical observations made at Kitt Peak.
