Primera Luz del Instrumento NEID de Exoplanetas
8 Enero 2020: El nuevo instrumento NEID, instalado ahora en el telescopio WIYN de 3,5 metros, en el Observatorio Nacional de Kitt Peak al sur de Arizona, EE.UU, ha realizado sus primeras observaciones. El instrumento financiado por NSF-NASA, ha sido diseñado para medir el movimiento de las estrellas cercanas con altísima precisión, unas tres veces mayor que de instrumentos actuales de vanguardia, lo cual permite la detección, determinación de la masa y la caracterización de exoplanetas tan pequeños como la Tierra.
