Gemini South's Busy Night

Gemini South telescope, half of the International Gemini Observatory, is busy slewing to various targets all around the sky. Unlike the telescope dome's almost frenzied rotation, the sky appears to 'rotate' more elegantly. On the ground beside the telescope is an array of solar panels supporting Gemini's commitment to sustainability.
