Gemini South team members suiting up.

In the picture, the team is gearing up before starting the washing and striping of the primary mirror. They use a positive-pressure breathing apparatus to avoid exposure to harsh chemical agents used to remove the silver coating. The washing and stripping process was extended to three days to allow the team to have proper breaks to allow the best performance.
