Artist’s Illustration of Exoplanet HD 86728 b

This artist’s illustration shows HD 86728 b, the very first exoplanet to be discovered by the NEID spectrograph, mounted on the WIYN 3.5-meter Telescope at the U.S. National Science Foundation Kitt Peak National Observatory, a Program of NSF NOIRLab. Exoplanet HD 86728 b is about nine times more massive than Earth. Surprisingly, this super-Earth appears to be the only planet orbiting its star.
