Granules, active regions, and prominences

Images obtained by the Interferometric BIdimensional Spectrometer (IBIS) immediately upon its installation at the Dunn Solar Telescope in June 2003. Left to right: line center intensity in Fe I 7090 angstroms; line center velocity in Fe I 7090 angstroms (scaled to +/-1.25 kilometers per second); line center intensity in Ca II 8542 angstroms. The full field of view is 80 arc seconds in diameter, and the box shows an enlargement of a 58 square arc second region near the center of the field. See the December 2003 NOAO Newsletter (currently only available in PDF format).
