Mosaic of a sample of disks found in new survey (labeled)
A survey of 44 young massive stars to investigate planet formation shows dusty, swirling disks — likely to become new solar systems. The images were taken with the Gemini Planet Imager (GPI) instrument on the Gemini South telescope of the International Gemini Observatory, a Program of NSF NOIRLab.
