Aurora borealis, also known as the northern lights, as seen from the U.S. National Science Foundation Kitt Peak National Observatory (KPNO), a Program of NSF NOIRLab. The telescope in the center is the Nicholas U. Mayall 4-meter Telescope, on which DESI is mounted.
