The expansion and modification of the observatory Base Facility in La Serena, Chile will serve the local support requirements of the Large Synoptic Survey Telescope (LSST) as well as the expansion and renovation objectives of the Association of Universities for Research in Astronomy (AURA) and the National Optical Astronomy Observatory – South (NOAO-S). The Base Facility Addition and Modification Project (Base Facility) is being designed by Andes Arquitectos under an architectural-engineering (AE) services contract initiated in September, 2015. The Base Facility design includes site preparation work, renovation of existing buildings, construction of a new office addition contiguous with the existing facility and construction of a new separate data center building.
