The LSST Camera team is preparing for a shipping test run

The LSST Camera team is preparing for a shipping test run using the camera mass simulator. The mass simulator is packed and ready to ship from SLAC National Accelerator Laboratory to Chile on April 28th, and it will travel under most of the same conditions (via truck and air, but from a different airport) that are planned for the real LSST Camera, which will travel to Chile next year. The mass simulator and its custom shipping container will be carefully monitored by several instruments throughout the trip, and the data collected will be analyzed to determine whether refinements should be made to the shipping plan for the real (and much more delicate) LSST Camera.
