Gemini South at Work

This photo shows a typical night at the Gemini South 8-meter telescope located on Cerro Pachón, Chile. Evidence of an observer can be seen as a trailing flashlight, while the progression of time is clearly visible with the bright Moon and stars trailing as they drift across the night sky. Gemini South is a part of the International Gemini Observatory, a program of NSF NOIRLab.
