Fulldome View Inside the Mayall-meter Telescope During Calibration

This fulldome video shows the Nicholas U. Mayall 4-meter Telescope at Kitt Peak National Observatory (KPNO), a Program of NSF’s NOIRLab, during calibration. The telescope “observes” the white target inside the dome prior to a night’s observing run to ensure its instruments, including the Department of Energy’s Dark Energy Spectroscopic Instrument (DESI), are functioning properly.
