Timelapse footage of McMath-Pierce Solar Telescope at night.
This timelapse footage of the McMath-Pierce Solar Telescope at the Kitt Peak National Observatory (KPNO), a Program of NSF's NOIRLab. As Earth rotates the stars appear to rotate around the north celestial pole over the Tohono O'odham Nation Reservation where KPNO is located. For many years this was the largest solar telescope in the world but was decommissioned in 2017 and is being converted to the NOIRLab Windows on the Universe Center for Astronomy Outreach.
