Gemini South Shining Lasers
Gemini South telescope, half of the International Gemini Observatory, shines lasers at the sky using the GeMS instrument (Gemini Multi-Conjugate Adaptive Optics System). This instrument helps the telescope capture some of the best images in astronomy. Below the arch of the Milky Way, the Large and Small Magellanic Clouds are visible as fuzzy white patches in the sky.
